I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

Wow!

Seriously... Plugged it in. Did a preliminary tweak. Wow. Straight outta the box this thing Rocks. It's so stinking clear

I can't play much or very loud since my dad is sleeping since he works 3rd shift... but later on tonight I can't wait to crank this baby while jamming.
So expect a full review later.

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for in guitar pedals from now on. From this few minute experience I don't want to have a single pedal on my board of lesser quality. Which means I won't have very many pedals considering my income. lol

Oops! Shoulda mentioned that!

Fulltone Fulldrive 2. Non-Mosfet.

Great little pedal!
Brings out my amps natural brightness. So I'm having to tame my amp a bit. Still I just love this thing.

Re: I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

like I told ya man, mine is never turned off!! It's a great pedal! I'm currently doing the same with my pedalboard...getting rid of all the lesser quality stuff :)

Re: I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

I've always liked the FDII. I got one of the first orange originals when I lived near Fulltone.
Since then, I've also had the blue one, and now the white one. They're all basically the same, although sometimes I wonder if the first orange one was the sweetest. At least the newer ones have 3 modes. And the newest one has about 4 options.

Some people have forgotten how good the FDII is. No matter what's said about it, it'll remain one of the modern classics. They really do sound good with the right guitar and amp.

Re: I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

If you like the FD2 you would really like the HBE Power Screamer. :beerchug: The FD2 is great, but IMO the HBE is the perfected FD2.

That seems to be how mine will be. I was jamming with it tonight, and it was never off. Coupled with the clean channel it was so nice, but once I kicked into overdrive it just seemed so much smoother and creamier.

And yeah... No more low quality pedals. The only way a Boss pedal is going to be on my board is if it Keeley, Analogman, or a similar mod.
Not that I am discounting Boss... nothing wrong with them.

If this thing sounds this good with my MIM Strat and Crate VC50 then I would love to hear it with some better quality gear on either end of the chain!

Perhaps someday I will check the HBE out, but the FD2 has me tickled pink at the moment.

Re: I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

I now own both the Blue MOSFET

AND the original FD2 and I cannot pick which to sell - so for now I have both.

The new one cuts with nasty mids and attitude, but the old one is fat and warm. One of my fave things to do is run it in comp cut mode into my Shiva, and leave it on all the time. It makes things big, fat, and sparkly.

That sounds great. I have a friend who had a CS Broadcaster, an older blue FD2 and a shiva (first the el-84 then the 6v6-both 2-12 w/V-30s) and MAN!! what a sound!!! It's the most fun I've ever had with a guitar. Incredible touch, nice grit/drive and miles of reverb...gottago change....

Re: I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

BTW-do you FD2 users use the boost much, or just the drive side? That feature is always what attracts me to the pedal, and I'd like to get one soon.

I have asmall fry and have thought about dropping a direct drive in front, but then again, maybe I'll dump the small fry and get a fd2???

Sorry to sidetrack Beggar-I'm happy for you and maybe you can be your dad's alarm clock.!!!:poed::scared:

Re: I got my Fulltone Fulldrive 2!

So far I turn the drive side on, and pretty much leave it there. The only time I don't is if I am doing a wah heavy passage on a song with our choir. It gets a bit too dirty with the wah in front, at least for a more Funk sound.
As far as the Boost side. I've been using it as just a lead boost. To me both sides are very balanced and play very well together.
Also I mainly leave the toggle switch on Vintage mode.
