I got to play a sweet guitar today

Today I went to my local guitar center, and I got my hands on this baby uploadfromtaptalk1433458584300.jpg

The neck on it was nothing like I've played before. It was thicker than a fat Gibson neck, but it played like butter. Pickups sounded great, and the guitar was set up with low action and no fret buzz. Too bad they didn't like my offer of 500$ haha

ive never been a big gibson fan. not that there bad just not my cup of tea with the only exception being the explorer. but here lately i have enjoyed dabbling with the high end gibsons. just a bit out of my price range lol.

Re: I got to play a sweet guitar today

I played a bunch of expensive gibsons today, just because I could haha. But it's not everyday I get to play a Dave grohl signature, one of 400. Just thought it was cool and thought I'd share my experience

I love those! I dig the six-in-line headstock; it resonates a little differently than a stock 335s.

Yikes. That's amazing.

What's the goal of using a 6 inline design instead of 3+3? I imagine it affects string tension and tuning stability, but how?

Not sure why it's 6 in line, but I'm guessing that's just what Dave wanted when he designed it.

damn you know how rare that guitar is! definitely not worth that price, I like his blue sig better.

It's actually a trini lopez sig, but dave added a few tweaks to it

I didn't know it was his take on a signature model already haha. That's cool to know, but yeah it was number 400/400. Pretty cool to know that I got to play the last one produced

I'm not gonna debate the sonic differences from the tuning pegs arrangement but I do know that Dave's guitar is based on the old Triny Lopez signature which had that exac headstock, along with the diamond holes and all.

While there may be differences in sound, I'd bet a noce diet pepsi that Dave's reflection on the matter was just a case of "base my sig on the design of this guitar I love" kinda situation...

Re: I got to play a sweet guitar today

The necks are much thicker on the Grohls than the TLs.

Wish I could that neck size on a regular 335.

Re: I got to play a sweet guitar today

I very much want one of those Grohl sigs.

As for that Epi "Dwight trash" guitar.......it surely is gorgeous but having that name on the headstock kills it for me.
