... and let me tell you this.

the tone is impeccable, there is no way that im ever gonna take it out of the guitar. it's the perfect pickup(at least for me).
everything is so balanced, not too much mids, not too much bass, not too much highs...... just perfect! it sounds alot better when i play the arpeggios on "altitudes", than the evolution.
plus, i sold my friend the evo. for 60 bucks, and a tone zone for 20 bucks. not that bad, aint it.

now for my review:

i was very glad to hear that it wasn't muddy like the evo. it's nice that it cuts through without being shrill or thin. i really like the balance of the lows/mids/highs, as i can get a variety of different sounds with it now. i can get i nice clean sound in the 4th position with the single coil and the humbucker, and the cleans by themself with the Custom isn't bad at all, a bit punchy but that doesn't bother me at all.
when i crank the marshall up to 11, it gets even better!! the distortion is just amazing with this thing. it has all of those great qualities of a PAF pickup with the sound of a higher output one. i haven't had any time to adjust any of the pole pieces yet, as i just put it in tonight, but i dont think i'll need to as it is perfect now.

i dont think i could've put in any better, plus everyone went home happy. i got the Custom, my friend got the Evo., and a tone zone, so i guess we're all happy.:)

thanks everyone who helped me out with the decision!
im gonna record some stuff ans post some clips as soon as possible, to let you hear my perfect tone now:D

Congrats bro, I herd one at GC yesterday and had to buy one. Im gonna put it in one of my Ibanez's. If you read alot of Zerbs posts about the Custom he swears by them.

\m/, your adventures w/your Charvel make me miss my Model 2, which was the first 'real' guitar I had ever bought; the headstock broke in half at a gig once in 2000, and I used the guitar for parts thereafter.

Great bro!!! Hey, what about the warmth factor?

I have a buddy who replaced his C-5 with a Custom but went back to the C-5 because he found the C-5 much warmer than the Custom.

Funny thing is......Robert S was saying the Custom sounds warmer to his ears due to the more prominent mids.

I´vs said it for years, and I´ll say it again: Jackson/ Charvel and SH-5 is a winning combo

Now you tell us! :D

Seriously though, there should be something like that in the vault. What pups go best with certain guitars.

ex. SH-5/Jackson Charvel
SH-14/Les Paul
SH-4/Strat

Rob's right about that, it may be my amp setting's though...
what do you think:

Bass:10
mid: 7
treble: 7
presence:8
gain:11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:6:

How is it versus the evo? Tell me all about it

compared to the evo, the evo was way too hot for my liking. every time i would do some really small mistake, it would shove it in my face and laugh at me. the custom isn't like that at all.
im a more PAF type of person, so the Custom just fit me more as opposed to the evo which was a sometimes muddy...... MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all in all, it just fits my playing bettre. thats about it:cool:

Yeah, the JB in my Jackson sounded too thin. Went to the Custom and it has thicker, and nicer sounding (rounder?) tones. If the JB was a machine gun, the Custom would be a howitzer. Whump, whump, whump!

In that case, I'll try one in my Charvel 750XL soon :D

Right now it has the stock Jackson pickups in it, what would you recommend for the neck position to go with the Custom?

Have you guys tried the Custom cmopared to the C-5? A friend of mine is in the same spot as I and found the C-5 rounder and warmer. My opinion is that more mids....gives a perceived warmth. I think that is why I usually come bakc to pickups with lot's of mids.

I will say though that I was floored by the clarity of the BB Pros in my LP....that is why I am going to try the C-5 next as a little bump up from the BB Pro.
