I just realized...

Today I just realized that I am really terrible at changing strings. In the past I've looked up how-to-do's on the internet and nothing I found seemed to help. Basically, I just stick em in with a decent amount of slack and turn the knob, and the results are horrific. Some people even stay away from me when we're jamming just b/c they're afraid a string-end might hit them in the eye. (Yes, I am too lazy to find a pair of wire-cutters). Literally every other guitar player I've played with has got those nice neat coils, neatly trimmed and everything, and my guitar strings pale in contrast and get out of tune a lot more often. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a link to a site where I could learn how to do it the right way, or if your the same, or...

Re: I just realized...

what kind of guitar(s) do you have?

Re: I just realized...

I think Scott had a picture tutorial thread a long time ago about how to string your guitar. I've done it that way ever since. I tried to do a search for it but couldn't find it. I'll try to find something for you.

Hmmmm... yeah i think you're hopeless... Just put your guitar on ebay and don't do that anymore...

LoL!!!! Just kidding!!!

Scott F has a great tutorial on stringing in the Vault section, called "How to string up your Geetars". Search for it and you'll find it.

Also invest into a nice pair of wire cutters and ALWAYS cut your strings after putting them on. It is not worth it losing an eye to a string thats dangling around.

Also make sure you stretch each string after putting it on. Then play. Then stretch again... Tune, now you should be good.
