I learned something new...maybe

Yesterday I changed the strings. I noticed immediately how stiff it felt in comparison to before. Because this is a new guitar, i took all the strings off so I could clean and inspect everything.

Like i said, the strings felt extremely stiff and unplayable.:eek13: I hadn't noticed that the when i put the tailpiece dealies back in i didn't lower them as much as before, so the tailpiece was sitting much higher than before. I tryed lowering it tonight and voila! i could bend again!

Has anyone noticed this? or am i crazy!?

Ya, when I change the strings on my les paul, the tune-o-matics posts are very easy to turn, so im alwas very carefull not to hit them and screw up my action.

I'm actually going to set up my TOM guitar for slide in the very near future, so it's not always a negative.

I was under the impression that the feeling of tension is greater if the tailpiece is screwed down closer to the body. Hence why some folk top wrap?
How high do you have it off the body?

TonePros locking hardware will fix that

Or just put a set of extra nuts on the posts,that will keep the posts from bending over time as well
