So i go to the music department of music here at UMT to register as a music major, and i find out that even though i am planning on majoring in music composition and technology, i need to declare and instrument of concentration and study with the professor of that instrument. so i chose guitar... duh. but this is a classical guitar school, and up until know i have been trained as a jazz guitarist. so - i was told i need to get myself a nylon string classical guitar. so the way i look at it, i get to get a new guitar as a school supply. sweet. so i am currently in the midst of shopping around the music stores in missoula to get a decent classical guitar, and i am liking what i find so far. i think i could get used to this...

Re: I like buying college supplies...

There was a semester in college where I ended up needing an acoustic guitar for a singer/songwriter ensemble & a keyboard for practicing at home for Piano class... Picked up my Ovation Celebrity and a Yamaha 76-key DGX-202 "Portable Grand" as school supplies!

It's a weird but cool feeling, eh? In hindsight, I kinda wish I'd purchased a different acoustic. The Ovation is playable, but it sounds a little less-than-full if you know what I mean. :dunno:

But, that was the first acoustic I'd ever purchased, and I didn't realize how big of an impact the non-wood back would have on the recorded tone. Live 'n learn, right?
