I met an old friend today.

A while back I took the 59n out of some guitar or another because it was too boomy. The thought popped into my head to make a unique pickup. I took the screw coil from it and another 59n screw coil I had laying around (it lost its screw coil in an experiment with hybrids that went bad) and put an A8 under them on the same baseplate.

I was kinda borrowing from both Holdsworth's 59n in bridge and double flathead screw ideas as well as EVH's whole A8 PAF thing. I never got around to testing it because it wandered off, but today I found it hiding in the couch cushions of all places!

As soon as I find a suitable guitar to put it in, I'll report back with the results, but I feel this is gonna be a good one.

Re: I met an old friend today.

I put an A8 into a paf-style neck pickup and installed it in the bridge of my guitar just a couple weeks ago. It is great. I hope you like yours as much.

Sweet. I normally only find spare change and jelly beans in there.

Yeah, one time I found the lost Scepter of Dagobert in there. I sold it to buy another DOD Boneshaker because I got tired of changing the settings everytime I wanted to go from vintage to modern distortion.

Still haven't found a suitable guitar for the 59, but I'm thinking about putting it in my Epi SG 400.

So, back on topic . . . this will be a 59n with dual screw coils?

Yup, and an A8 magnet. I was looking around my shed for a 1.5X thickness A8 magnet just to take it completely over the top, but my search was for naught. I guess I'll just see how it sounds as-is and go from there.
