I need a copper-colored pickguard

For my wine red strat!

I was shielding the pickup cavity and really liked the contrast of the dark red with the copper.

Where can I buy it?

I looked at WDMusic, eBay, other sites, but couldn't find.

The closest I found was a Fender Moto Bronze pickguard, but most US stores won't ship Fender products to France...

Any suggestions? Pierre? Zerb? Calling all EU residents!!!

Re: I need a copper-colored pickguard

get an anodized aluminum guard from Fender...they are made form aluminum but are anodized to a copper/gold colour. I think they look great but be warned they do wear and the colour fades in the places where it wears...

Re: I need a copper-colored pickguard

My suggestion would be to get a clear pickguard and either paint the backside with metallic copper or laminate copper foil to the back of it. It'll look cool, never wear off, and you can pick your desired shade.

I wish! No, it's a 50's Strat that I kept a pic of for reference. I'm wanting to go the red flake direction with my next Strat project. I'm actually thinking about doing a clear pickguard with black on the back. I think that would make an awesome deep glass effect against the red.

It's more gold than copper, but still kool. Maybe you could have it powdercoated or even annodized copper...

+1 - close to what I was thinking. Gotta be contact copper foil out there...

Re: I need a copper-colored pickguard

I know I'm a bit crazy when it comes to tone, but I've never been happy with what a metal pickguard does to the sound of the guitar. For some reason, plastic guards sound better than metal ones. Fender made a plastic copper colored pickguard for a few of their Deluxe Strats, and that's the one you should seek out. I'd go to a Fender dealer and have them place an order for that exact copper colored plastic pickguard, and you'll probably pay full retail for it.

Trust me on this one.....that's the one you want. If you get a real copper pickguard, it'll age into green, and the tone of your guitar will get more steely.
Get the copper colored plastic, and your red guitar with aged white pickups/knobs will look sweet!!

Re: I need a copper-colored pickguard

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am not sure about the copper foil on a clear pickguard because of possible "blisters" in the foil... It's a great idea which I may decide to try anyway, but painting may be the best choice.

Gearjoneser: I had already ordered the aged white kit, should arrive soon :-))

Here's a fender deluxe strat. The pickguard kinda looks copperish. I'm sure you could put in a custom order with fender to get one.
