I need a jmp

This evening was band practise and I'd talked a friend of mine into borrowing his '73 JMP based cut and shove combo.
Somewhere back in time some one took a 2x12 cab, a fifty watt JMP (first of the PCB based ones) and two green backs and made it into a combo.
Now I know the PCB JMP's get a lot of bad press for being bright and brittle, I also have read this is usually down to people changing the valves from EL34's to something more reliable and at some (can't be bothered to do a full explanation).
Anyway, this amp when cranked is a sweet, sweet thing indeed.
Ok, the lack of master volume is restricting at low volumes but not a problem at band levels.
Took a bit of effort to get the amp to drive without too muddy in the low end but sweet spot found the amp just sounded so great next to a more modern Marshall. I used my valve sporker (over drive pedal, bit like a multi fuctional tube screamer) to give a bit more gain and with my Tokai LP at just rocked.
The best bits were the almost cleans on the neck up. I was just playing notes just to hear the tone.
I really don't want to give this amp back, but it's not for sale and I couldn't afford it if it was.
Rest in peace Jim, you made some cracking amps in your time.

I feel your pain. I'm on a live Zeppelin binge at the moment, and I crave that tone. I'm glad I've got a Catalinbread RAH coming in this week - I know, Hiwatt ≠ Marshall... but still.

I think you must have got almost the last one in stock....I went to get one and they were out.

They were out of stock on Saturday, but I got an email on my way to class yesterday morning that they were back in stock. I braved the PGS site on my phone and placed my order during class. I didn't want to get stuck waiting for it to be restocked - I had to return a Micro Vibe in February and I've been waiting for them to restock the pedal ever since.

Re: I need a jmp

I've been gassing for a non master volume Marshall recently, but then I tend to have constant insatiable Marshall gas anyway. 2 heads, 3 cabs, 1 combo in stock currently. I could fill the house with them, money and Mrs F permitting. Jim will never be forgotten here!
