im looking into getting into recording ruffsmostly just ideas with my buddies. (im trying to compose a piece of music for a school show) i need a recorder thats able to move around. what would be a good digital recroder in the range of about 300 $. it needs to be able to record, and then i need to be able to layer another recording onto the first so i can do my own rythm guitar. all help is appreciated.

the fostex mr-8 series is very easy and portable, but becoming pretty out-dated. of course out-dated means cheap in ebay terms. probably well under your price range.

but if I wanted something really fast and portable, I'd look into the latest zoom and roland little handheld digtital 4 tracks. probably spot on your price range.

or for like $50 you could get a analog 4-track off ebay, but that really is ancient history.

another dumb question for you guys. how do i go about recording like i want to. with a drum track , rythm track and lead guitar tracks? is that what 8 track means? (im osrry im really new in the recording area.)
