I need a ton of opinions!!!

Ok, for a while now i have had a thing for the Schecter C-1 Blackjack..I have worked out a deal with guitar Center to give the guitar and molded case for $610. But now I'm wondering about these Faded V's that I have seen. Does anyone have an opinion about which guitar I should look into? Thanks

Re: I need a ton of opinions!!!

My opinion is they are both excellent guitars for the money in the general sense. Make sure the individual instruments you look at are well made, and sound good acoustically. Try more than one of each model, pick the best Schecter, and the best V from those, then have a "shootout" of those two.

I'm a Gibson whore and I'd pick a good V over a good Schecter anyday, but I think Schecters are excellent guitars.

The stock Gibson pups are so-so in a V. I suggest you drop them fairly low and *then* evaluate them sonically. They tend to come from the factory too close to the strings and they sound very "ceramic-y"..i.e. Harsh..brittle....

I've been thinking of picking up one of those faded V's myself. V's are tough to play sitting down, but like the Explorer and Firebird, I find them comfier than most playing standing up.

Ew **** no, get the Blackjack!

Keep in mind, if you haggle enough, you can get killer deals. I got my C-1 Classic for 750 out the door with case, a 40 dollar leather strap, and straplocks. ;) The axe ended up being 563 on the receipt.

I'm with DSS3, dont go blackjack, get another model. but if you must get one, go schecter, you just plain get more for your money and the service the company gives you is amazing! They replaced my stock schecter bridge with a brand new tone pros locking bridge just so nothing would ever go wrong again! Gibson won't dare do that for you, stupid lil pricks that need to 1hasdfhadhadh!!!

Sorry about that, I read Blackjack as Elite.

Get the ****ing Blackjack!

Re: I need a ton of opinions!!!

The Faded V sounds like crap, if I were to get one I'd get a standard V, it sounds so much better.

As for Blackjack vs. Faded ... Blackjack is like twice the guitar the Faded is.

Re: I need a ton of opinions!!!

the blackjack is $550 right? you should be able to get a skb hardshell case (or coffin or whatever else you want) and maybe a few accessorys for that price including tax. if the guy says no, find some one who will. they can do it.

bring a friend with good ears and sit down with all the guitars you might be interested in, listen to them acousticly and then plugged into the same amp you own or something very similar. if it sounds good thru a mesa dual rec, it might not sound so good thru a peavey bandit. remember pup adjustments can make a big difference in tone so if one sounds thicker or cleaner than another, see if the pup heights are similar. if im really buying a guitar, i keep a little screw driver in my pocket to mess with stuff. DONT start attacking the guitar without asking your sales guy.

in general dont discuss price until you are ready to buy. find the right guitar before you even worry about how much itll cost.

Very important advice. Always trust your ears (or the ears of a good friend), and hands... Some people may think a faded Flying V guitar is the most kool thing ever, but the most important factors of it, are how well it plays and sounds.

ROCK ON! :usa2:

Re: I need a ton of opinions!!!

I'm in favor of the Blackjack. I have been gasing for one for a while now. It just sounds good with the stock JB/59 pup combo anyway. The JB really gets those lows that I'm looking for. Plus I think the blackjack is the more solid one of the pair. It has a tonepros locking bridge, through body strings, grover tuners, and binding all around. Thanks for the comments guys, but keep those opinions coming!!!
