I need some PU suggestions!

Hi all! I've been a long time fan of SD pickups and of course the SDUGF. I need some help picking a new bucker for the bridge pos. of my tele.

It's an 01' MIA and has an alder body with a maple board.

A while back i routed the body and loaded it with a SD custom, which I believe is a ceramic magnet.

Over time I think my tastes have changed and I no longer dig the custom. I find that it has little warmth and tends to be really bright without much clarity on the overdrive channel.

I am looking to decrease the output and try an alnico II or V.

I have tried the JB, Jazz, and 59' with little success.
-JB was icepicky
-Jazz too muddy
-59' right feel not enough gain though

So what your thoughts? I could really use the help.

PS I'm running a single rect. loaded with el-34's if that helps.

Try a Custom 5!

I can undersatnd if you find the JB Icepicky but I am honestly confused when you say the JAZZ is muddy.

But I guess you will like the C5... If you want a 59 with more output.

I am at a total loss on that one. The Jazz being muddy??? WTF.

I understand how one could say the JB could be icepicky though.

Magnet changes in the Custom are the way to go here, IMHO.

I suppose the term I should have used is Boomy when I tried the jazz.

I have never tried the Demon or Custom 5. Can anyone tell me a bit more about these pickups.
