I need tips on how to get a certain tone: SRV, Hendrix type sound

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to get in the ballpark of SRV and Hendrix's tone with an H-S-H strat. What position works best for you when you’re playing some Jimi on a H-S-H equipped guitar?

Neither one used humbuckers, right? Might be tough without an SSS guit. Can you coil split the humbuckers?

Strat with singles through low gain marshall.

now, SRV had all his EQ knobs at 10 at all times.

the secret was a big extension cable that he used to power his gear.

it gave it a different sound.

as far as hendrix...

try using your middle and bridge pups together

or maybe just middle...

try something like this

use your neck or middle, since they tend to be a little dull and muddy, boost your treble.
