I realized that last time I posted my NGD, I never came back to post my own photos.

A couple of years back, I placed the order, and just posted the images straight from The Music Zoo. That violates some form of guitar forum NGD rule. So I'm back, and here's my '59 reissue Strat in Faded Sonic Blue. I may not visit the forum at all these days, but I learned so much about guitars (not much about playing them) hanging out here daily around 2007-2013. Glad to see a lot of the old posters are still around.

Wow, that's really faded- haven't seen one that pale before. I like it!

That is a pretty unique color! How does it sound?

Yeah! Before seeing it, I thought I wanted Olympic White, but in the end this was both close enough and it was different enough to stand out under closer scrutiny. I'm pretty glad I found it to be honest.

It sounds amazing! I don't think it has a very unique sound, to be honest. It just sounds exactly the way a Strat would sound in your head, if that makes sense.

How do you like the 3-way?

These actually come with a 5-way installed and the 3-way in the case candy. I guess Fender realized that people always swap it out and decided to go that way.

Snake plant. They're very pretty and easy to maintain to boot!

It's a little unusual for a Strat, I think. It has a bit of a medium D-shape to it (0.87-ish to a hair under an inch at the 12th fret). I like the taper and how it feels skinnier when playing with the thumb in the middle, but the shoulders give you more to hold on to when having the thumb up.

I felt the '65 reissue neck was just a tad bit too big for me (it's just a fat C-shape), while the '62 AVRIs and modern standard Cs are bit too "one size fits all".

Also often called snake plant. Popular as a houseplant because they do well in low light conditions and won't die if you forget to water them for a week or two.

Yep! I've gone longer without watering mine at some point. They don't care, specially during the winter.

gotcha, ive heard the '59 is a different shape but havent put my hand on one. i usually like a fat c more than a thinner one so curious about this shape.
