I replaced my Les Paul PUPs with SD's - results

Thanks to everyone that provided advice when I inquired as to the best SD pups to replace the stockers in my LP Custom. I thought it would be courteous to post the results for others seeking similar advice.

I decided on a 59 in the neck and Custom 5 in the bridge and couldn't be happier. The blended sound of both pickups, whereas they sounded muddy with the stockers, create a fabulous sound that takes overdrive and distortion very well. The Custom 5 sounds terrific by itself and the 59 has a great sound that's not thick and muddled. I kept 10 gauge strings on it and had the action set a bit lower. So now the guitar plays and sounds better than ever.

Thanks again to all who helped steer me in the right direction. I highly recommend this pup combination for anyone playing classic rock, blues, and pop.

Best regards and God bless....vbf

It's a great PU combination a number of us have used in LP's, SG's, 335's etc. It's hard to go wrong. Glad to hear they worked so well for you. I don't know why they don't push this pair more, and back off on JB's.

Another youth set on the road to a brighter tomorrow!
