I rewired the Schecter

they normally come with a 5 way switching which means you get 3 pretty much unusable tone settings, and it makes the JB/Jazz sound very thin.

I bought an Alpha 3 way switch and cap, I went with a .027, it's like a different guitar, it's like it woke it up and now there's no way I'm changing pickups, the SD's sound great..

some of you with schecters may want to try this..

Re: I rewired the Schecter

I'm guessing the other 2 positions were for coil tapping, hence the "thin" sound. The cap would make a difference depending on what was in it before.

Re: I rewired the Schecter

I would not be surprised if the stock Schecter switching was along Ibanez HH lines: Bridge, Inside Coils, B+N, N wired in parallel, N wired in series.

If the stock switch was an OTAX 24-contact PCB type, hang on to it. It might prove useful for another project.

I have just relocated a JB/59 pair from one Hamer XT Sunburst (which they did not suit) to a cheaper model where they sound exactly right - especially for down tuning poop.
