I swear I have tried every amp... still stumped!

Re: I swear I have tried every amp... still stumped!

WOW, tons of advice coming in! Thanks... I have tried the F50 mesa, and it was okay, but I think the Lonestar sounded a little bit better. Unfortunately I live in iowa and no one carries Dr Z stuff around here. Sounds like a lot of 10" speaker suggestions... I may have to try some of those out.
as for the songs, what i meant is how each of those songs has a lot of break up, but doesn't really have any distortion to it. Jesus just left chicago is another great example of the gain stage I want. Thanks for all your suggestions, keep em coming!!!

*cough Orange AD30 cough* ;)

I have 1 and absolutely love it for the amount of clean and crunch tones that are available from it :)

I know the amp I want is out there but I am running out of ideas! I want an amp that has that really bluesy sound (strats and tele being played) My Fender Twin just isn't it, it barks too much. I know I am looking for some sort of fender-like sound. Very clean with a lot of bluesy break up. Any ideas guys????

Here is the tone I am looking for:
Joe Walsh clean tone in LIFE IN THE FAST LANE
Matchbox Twenty 3am
Stevie Ray Vaughn Lenny
U2 where the streets have no names
Vertical Horizon Best I Ever Had

I have yet to try a Fender Bassman 4x10, and I really like the Crate V-series, but they don't have the bottom end that the fenders do....

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

What's your budget? :)

Re: I swear I have tried every amp... still stumped!

If you want more versatility out of a Fender amp, look into the Pro Tube Series amps, like the Concert Reverb, Twin, and Pro. They have a lot of bells n whistles, but still sound extremely good. I had a Concert, and was able to tweak it almost any way I wanted by just turning knobs and pushing a couple buttons.

If you've got a little over a grand to spend, definitely look into Dr. Z amps. They're the best boutique you can buy for the money they want. Check their site for clips and tonal descriptions.

I use the Custom Vibrolux reverb, which is currently available as part of Fender's pro tube range.

Basically, it's the brownface vibroverb ri they put out when they first did reissues, with a few custom shop tweaks: shared reverb, better tremolo, no negative feedback loop for earlier overdrive, and better alnico speakers.

it's a great amp. I had the choice of the vibrolux or a twin ri, and I chose the vibrolux. I've had mine modded so it has a switchable negative feedback loop, so I can run the amp with a slightly tamer sound and more headroom if I want.

It's a fantastic blues/rock amp. Highly recommended.

I also recommend the bassman ri, if you want a slightly more aggressive treble push.

Re: I swear I have tried every amp... still stumped!

I have a Mesa Maverick 4-10 that can cover both AC-30 and Fender tones, I'll sell it cheap if you are interested.

Maz 28 1x12 - 22 watts of heavenly tone - not fender or vox exactly but a very nice chimey rich sound on it's own terms, also - check around for a used Victoria double deluxe - it's does the full fender vintage clean with signficantly more drive than a bassman - cleans up like a dream with the volume on the guitar.

Blackface deluxe or pro, depending on how loud you play. I love the sound of those amps when they are on the edge.
