I thought 59s had silver backs??

Black backs are simply OEM pups rather than silverbacked retail ones. I had a set in my old Tele FMT HH. In fact that one is exactly like mine, RWRP. With a push/pull pot pulled out, it split both bridge and neck hb's and in the midle pos(3way) would hum cancel with the RWRP neck.
