I took too long to return my Blockbuster DVDs ...

ratherdashing

Kablamminator
... so they made me buy them. I didn't read the fine print on their so-called "no late fees" policy. :smack:

Anyway, if anyone here wants one, I'll do $8 US shipped to USA, or $8 CAN shipped to Canada. If you want both, it's $14 US/CAN.

They are:

- A History of Violence (Action/Drama, Viggo Mortenson)
- The Aristocrats (Documentary/Comedy, featuring tons of comedians)

I am also open to trades for CDs, DVDs, PC games, PS2 games, and Strat pickups.

EDIT: Blockbuster gave me the original packaging for them, so they look just like used DVDs as though they were bought at Best Buy etc.

DUDE. That is a bummer. Fight the power, stick it to the Video Man. Here's how:

One word, one hyperlink

Are you ready?

OK, here it is:

NETFLIX

http://www.netflix.com/

It changed my life.

So what did the fine print say in a summary? I remember alot of people across the country griping when they started that "no late fees" thing and were promoting it.

I tried the Canadian equivalent: zip.ca. It was neat because their selection was so huge, but it doesn't satisfy the instant gratification problem. Also, with new releases it took freakin' forever for me to get them in the mail.

Then there's Video On Demand offered by my cable company. It's a great system, but the selection is terrible.

So, in summary:

Blockbuster
Selection: so-so
Convenience: so-so
Immediacy: requires a trip to the store

Zip
Selection: awesome
Convenience: great
Immediacy: "The waaaaiiiiting is the hardest part!"

Video On Demand
Selection: crap
Convenience: stupidly easy
Immediacy: as soon as you push the button

If VOD had better selection, it would rock.

If you keep the movie more than 2 weeks, you have to pay a restocking fee.

If you keep the movie more than 4 weeks, you have to pay the purchase price for it. For those two movies, it was approx. $36. Either that, or never rent from BB again.

So yeah, there are no "late" fees, just new ways to shaft you.

Hey! I know a great "no late fees" program.

Haul your lazy Cheetoh-eating ass off the couch and drive to the video store before the due date. :laugh2: :fing25:

I understand - I hope I didn't come off as being a jerk. I thought I might convert you to the faith... :laugh2:

There's no way around the lack of instant gratification with Netflix or Zip. You just have to PLAN AHEAD. Here's how I manage it:

1. Have something at home for the kids. Currently Totoro.

2. Have something at home that me AND the wife will like (currently Lost Season 2 Disc 1).

3. Something else at home just for me. Like Invasion of the Return of the Barfing Slime Babes from Planet Juju. Or something.

Finish wife and me DVD, send it back. If, between the time we send it and we receive the next "us" DVD she really really wants to watch something... well, there's Attack of the Mutant Beach Volleyball Vampire Team III.

It works for us, at least.

Anyways, consider this post a free bump for your DVD sale.

Cheers!

Re: I took too long to return my Blockbuster DVDs ...

RD, DUDE, take him, up on it!!! Rent them to him at the same terms they were rented to you :laugh2:

Blockbuster is not harsh enough. My terms are: pay me a $100 deposit, and I'll pay you back $3.50 if I get the movies back to me within 48 hours of me shipping them.

PS: Odie, I'm not gay, but feel free to pretend I am if that helps you get it up. :fing25:
