lately ive been thinking of starting to play bass, ive been messing around on friends basses and its fun. it definately wouldnt keep me from my guitars, but i could add bass to my recordings and stuff and its just a change of pace. so what do you guys reccomend i start with? i play metal (Metallica, sabbath, maiden, priest, motorhead, pantera, down, etc.). i dont know what pickup setup i really prefer, ive played p-, jazz, and rickenbacker basses and liked em all. id probably prefer a maple fretboard, but theyre not too common on the less expensive end. and i dont want a cheap squire or epi cause....bleh...but heres a few ive been looking at, feel free to reccomend more

Re: i want a bass....

Get a Peavey P style. Great bass for the money and a sound that can cover a lot of styles.

Re: i want a bass....

I'd go with the Jazz purely based on the alder body (although I think Swamp Ash is :) )

But I'd definatly change out the pups pretty fast unless the don't bother you

Re: i want a bass....

I think the P/J combo will give you more versatility if this is going to be your only bass for some time. Pop some basslines/EMG/or Barts in there... ooooooooooofa it'll be sweet!

Re: i want a bass....

yeah, i think ill probably go for either of the rondo's unless i find something else. the ltd is agathis and the schecter is a little more expensive than i can do right now (im goin for $300 or under). the PJ rondo probably has better features for me (more pickup versatily, 24 frets), but i really dig jazz basses so its hard deciding

Re: i want a bass....
