Sell your crappy guitars and use the money to take real lessons
Not really its all in knowing what you got and where to move it.
And he for sure isnt picking and choosing his purchases based on their profitability. On the lot of guitars he has now he would be lucky to break even on all but 1.
job?
I understand the "shrine in the closet" allure of owning a real classic amp but when I finally went from horrific Digitech multifx pedal (this was the modelling dark ages) to a Marshall as a teenager, I think I literally wheeled it out twice in 5 years. It made a hot background for my myspace selfies but my ears hurt after playing it for 15 seconds in my 50 sq ft bedroom.
Becoming a teenage virtuoso on junk gear is the best time in your guitarist life IMO. If you're that tight on cash then let it wait. That's not a once in a lifetime investment either, it's just a CBS.
Be financially wise now instead of flipping gear til you're broke then when you're old and crusty like me (mid 20s) you can have a room full of them.

You couldn't sell an Epi Studio in good condition surf green for $150? From what I can find, I can take the Jazz/JB and sell them for $100, and I've seen a few Epi stock pups in the Good Karma thread to replace them. And I think I could easily make a profit with the ESP LTD H-400 in like new condition that I'm getting for $225. Again, take the 59'/JB and sell for $100 then sell the guitar with some other pups. I think I could fetch more than $125 for a set neck mahogany body guitar???
I got a bit of both here. :laugh2:
Alright, I understand all my guitars are trash. I'm already looking around for offers.
Man.. I wonder.. Because the Roland Cube is under $500 and SS, should I also sell/give it away?
Alright, but reality I am thinking about just paying the 15% restocking fee and not buying that esp. Then I'll give my Washburn to my brother as he's kinda looking into starting! Then I'll only have one piece of trash!![]()
Yeah that guitar is not mahogany, they call it mahogany but its not mahogany none of them at that price point are. Its a trade name its real name is toona.
I get it dude, you like it when people reaffirm what you want to hear thats why you get a big chubby when dominus agrees with you and you get bent out of shape when i tell you its not the way I would go.
But if you want a dose of reality throw those guitars up on craigslist and see what sort of offers you get. I bet you get a dozen offers of trades for guitar hero controllers, eight balls of weed, key hole saws and other assorted items but little cash. It will at least test the water for how much money people are willing to spend. You bought those guitars at pretty much their current used value which is ok unless you want to make a profit. You might make some parting them out but thats also relying on others to give you pickups.
At the end of the day i'm just offering one opinion on how you could go about it. If you choose to blow your money redecorating your scalp with a soldering iron and pixie sticks I wouldnt care in the slightest.
If quantity over quality is what blows your skirt up have at it.
Craigslist sucks. It's where the dregs of humanity hang out. He'd get decent prices on eBay. How do I know? I make a decent living flipping gear. I can also figure out which eBayers spend time on CL, and I block them as soon as I get a question from them.
Yep we are all aware of what you do, I was waiting for you to chime in. Now tell him about this shangri la called ebay. It supports much better "vendors" than it does individuals. But hey press on!

Not going to get into a measuring contest, but for the first 9 years I was selling full time on eBay I was an individual. Now I have a girl that works for me part time.
But please, let's talk more about how having better gear makes you a better player, because those with extraordinary talent couldn't make it with crap gear..
