here's a little preview of one of the songs we're working on: http://www.purevolume.com/bryanfries

the song is called "meh noot" (i know, we still need a real name for it, but that's what the lead guitar part in the beginning of the song sounds like when you mouth it out :laugh2: )

there is still no bass guitar, but i'd like to know what you think, particularly about the guitar tone. i know it needs more work, as well as the drums, and i've got a lot of plans and a lot of ideas in mind for both, but i want to know what you honestly think as far as tone, production, composition, how well you think it was executed, and so on and so on.

Re: i would like to hear your opinions

Sounds good, solid tone, but very cluttered... How was it panned?

The drums do need work - you're right. They sound very 'live' - something I find eq'ing and compression to take great care of. Try raising the OH's a bit and cut off anything below about 500-600, maybe a cut at 2.5Khz or a boost up top - see how that works out for ya!

the rhythm tracks were panned 60 to the left and 60 to the right, and the lead track is dead center.

i've been trying not to do much to it yet, especially on the drums, until the bass gets tracked. but thanks for the tip on the OH's mang.

Re: i would like to hear your opinions

I'd really pan those guitars 100/100, and the lead track doubled and about 20/20 or keep it one track and move it over a bit. It just sounds really cluttered and narrow right now - pan that ****, son!
