Ibanez INF3,4 = secret GEM?

Heya, ive been looking at pickup reviews on HC, and the Ibanez ones have caught my eye. Now out of pickups, Duncan and Dimarzio ones both generally hover at around 8.8-9.2 score there, but these Ibanez stock pickups.. 9.8
Sure only 6 reviews but still, even with more reviews the score is likely to stay at or above the ones of Duncans

So what is up with that. Are they really that good?

Because compared to say.. these ibanez pickups, it is a completely different rating:

I dont know, but I do particularly like the neck one (I think thats the INF3). I tried it in the neck of a 24 fret Jackson - a guitar which has seen a variety of neck pickups, from Duncan AIIPro to Pearly Gates, 59 and some others and I never liked any of them in that guitar. The INF3 however seems to match it perfectly and will stay there now.

The bridge pickup was crap though (INF4)?

Re: Ibanez INF3,4 = secret GEM?

IIRC its not a ceramic magnet thats in the bridge pickup, it might even already be an A5. I seem to remember reading the NECK pickup was ceramic, but the bridge was an A2 or A5?
Maybe Im remembering wrong.

I thought they sucked ass, but hey that's just me.

Well I thought EVERY pickup I tried in that guitar sucked ass, Duncans and Dimarzios included. The INF was the best of the lot, surprisingly.

Re: Ibanez INF3,4 = secret GEM?

not tried the INFS3, 4 I have got AHS 1 and AHS 2 which I extensively used pre modification period on my squier strat. the AHS1 was in the bridge!!!

Those things rock, I don't know quite what it is with Ibanez pickups but they don't half sound great! brilliant things they are!

I'll have to try the INFS ones at some point.

IIRC, the inf3 is around 9k and ceramic, and the inf4 is around 15k and alnico5.
I got them to sound ok, when I swapped them into my dean hardtail.

But even better, I swapped the ceramic and alnico mags...put the ceramic in the inf4 in the bridge, and the alnico5 in the inf3 for the neck...much better. Nice and articulate, but still a thick tone...

They're not even close to a good set of Duncans, but they're not bad.

Re: Ibanez INF3,4 = secret GEM?

I tried the INF4 in a Xiphos into a Marshall and it wasn't bad at all. Then again, if it's 15K A5 that would make sense as I like JBs and Breeds with similar specs. I was actually taken aback because I am used to the V series pickups, which are awful.
