hello
i look for a guitar if i sell my js 1200

no basswood

alder or mahogany
warmer sound in the neck position
A Lot of harmonics like sh6

versatile with the sounds of the strat if posssible

floyd rose original : i prefer it to the edge pro
easy to play like a js
a super strat

san dimas and so cal? or other guitar ?:onder:
or the new js 2450 in sh with sustainer?

alder body

Re: ibanez js : i want another guitar

Wait for the 2450, if you love everything about the 1200 except the Basswood. I had a JS 1000 and that neck was by far the best feeling neck ever.

Considering that player preferences run the gamut from thin necks to baseball bat neck, that statement means nothing to the rest of us. You need to be more specific.

what you miss is a single mid pickup not the alder body. Ibanez's are very stratty by design. My UV70p sounded extremely close to a strat : playing sultans of swing on a 7-stringer who would imagine? As far as harmonics, this is a matter of guitar + pups. Both the following two must be true for harmonics to come out loud : the guitar must have the mids/treble needed and the pups to capture this.

The OP already stated "easy to play like a js".

Re: ibanez js : i want another guitar

hi :)

i've played with my js 1200 for many years but my real fun/pleasure is with a sg new century to play like john sykes or gary moore; it's so easy !! with a SG:)
big sound with harmonics
i think that having some guitars with different body is good thing
but, now i look for a super strat now because i think my js 1200 is beautiful but not amazing about the sound

my fred pickup was changed : i have a norton (dimarzio)
people told me a sh4 was not as clean as the norton

i have the js1200 with a high pass filter too but all time now because i have a parallel mod with this volume knob

the sounds are too straty for me
but i prefer my strat because the sound is bigger than my js
a little bit warmer too

JS2450MCP.jpg
with a js : the neck is very very good!! not fat like a strat

the js 1200 is great but I'm sick of these thin sounds

and I prefer an original floyd rose because you can make more effects, better sound and controling the notes is easy (think about Lukather too)
and the tremolo bar doesn't move (it's different with a JS)

then, the JS 2450 is a good product: it's in alder (like a strat)
Therefore, it looks like the vibrato is still an edge pro rodless blocking
and the neck pickup is a Satch track : it's not a humbucker, so ?

and mo joe is still the same = is not a powerful pickup
you must not forget that on stage, Satriani plays with many heads (3?) signatures :)

so, i hope to try some Charvel san dimas or so cal
it's not perfect because not in hsh and the neck is like a strat

have you played with these models? so cal, san dimas

Re: ibanez js : i want another guitar

i would say that the sound was made to have precision
not mud
and i would like to know if a Charvel with a sh1 can be good with funk (Chic: good times, for example)
not a muddy sound
good in clean too

or with sh6 too in the neck position

the Js was made for precision and the so cal or san dimas can be different in the sound
i don't know

the js is versatile but not perfect
i think that the so cal and san dimas will have a fatter sound, warmer too
and it would be funnier to play with these guitars than js
IMO

and for the Charvel, I would like to know if the bar is easy to push or not
because, with my JS I have 3 springs and it's hard to support / push

to keep the guitar in tune + not a loud pression to push the bar= perfect
and it's not easy to have that

i have that with a Strat or with another guitar with 2 springs

so, maybe a js with 2 springs? i don't know

The JS1000 neck was a re-creation of the neck on a '58 Strat that Joe owned. Ibanez digitally scanned it and made that the JS Profile for the 1000. I don't know if they've altered it for other models.
