Ibanez RG Genesis guitars...

I already have something w/ the 'full frontal' Koa thing going on..

It's nice when there's more that's shadowed.. :D

Patience is'nt one of my many virtues so i went down to the store shortly after posting that ^^ ...and would you believe the guitar was gone! Can't tell you how many times I've dilly-dallied and lost out on great guitars. You'd think I'd have learnt something by now..

It was the last they had in stock at their store in my city . Though after a few phone calls I was told they still had them at their main store (which is in another city) and in their online store. So they suggested I get mine online. Needless to say.....I ordered one as soon as I got back...so now I just have to wait for.it to be delivered.

Bit of a shame 'cuz I always prefer to try before I buy whenever I can and I did'nt get the opportunity. However I did try another of their strat type guitars & it played like butter. You can tell there's something a bit different going on with the frets though (Circle fretting system). I mean it's noticeable for sure though not in either a good or bad way. Just different feeling...

Still it did'nt really get in the way & the guitar played awesome..

I love love love love love the looks of that EVH.

I've wanted a Wolfgang for a while. The neck profile seems like something I'd love. I just wished they had more options without a Floyd.

It's a sweet axe for sure. I don't reach for it as much as I should though. The neck is pretty slim/C Shaped/fine if slightly narrow, which is'nt a big problem but it does make a slight difference when I'm tapping...

I'm curious about the SD Pegasus pup in the FGN. Any experience with it? On paper it ticks most of the boxes for me..except for the "medium output" part which I can live with. I like the fact that it's supposed to be kinda roundish & hopefully has a bit of squish to it (cuz tapping :laugh2:)..overall it seems like the ideal 'modern prog metal' pickup.

Here's the one I played at the store yesterday...

It was cheaper & had in-house pup's that were pretty sweet. It really played awesome & sounded incredible. If it was'nt for the pickguard I'd have walked out with it. (generally prefer superstrats w/o pickguards)

A while ago I played extensively a 1991 Rg550 with a dimarzio PAF in the neck and a tone zone in the bridge (the middle single coil was stock) and a 1994 rg550 Ltd completely stock, both borrowed from a friend of mine. The guitars were slightly different (the fretboard in maple for the former, in rosewood for the latter) and both advertised to have the wizard shaped neck. The 1991 was a wonderful guitar, much better than my prestige rg2620, unbeaten playability and tone. Even if the tone zone is not one of my favorite pick up. Now I haven't played yet a rg550 Genesis but if I have a chance to get one old rg550 (pre 1994) for sure I will take it
