Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

I am going to be working on an ibanez that came with teh standard ibaenz inf pickups. I have a full shred bridge and dmz breed neck humbucker that I will be installing, but want to know what to replace the middle single coil with that would complement these two humbuckers.

I was thinking maybe a yjm fury SD that just came out, any other suggestions?

This is going to be a rock 'shred' guitar (even though I can't really shred at all), and I want that liquidy fluid lead tone from the single coil. I will be playing with high gain amps, so it should probably also be noiseless.

Let me know what you guys think, thanks.

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

I would add a stacked humbucker
I put a Fender Vintage Noiseless bridge in my RG4
with a pair of Carvin S22 pickups and it cant compete
had to sink the Carvin's deep into the body and raise the Fender all the way up
to get them to balance

be careful as the stacked singles are a bit wider than the true singles
mine barely fit into the pickup route

I would suppose with the pickups you have mentioned then the
Dimarzio Chopper or Fast track II may be what you want

but there will be other opinions

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

will a stacked single have that single-coil sound to it though?

I bought the ibanez because I'm mainly a les paul guy, and wanted a different sound. Almost all of my guitars are dual humbucker, so I would like something that sets iteslef apart a little.

would a hot single like the YJM compliment the output of the other 2 humbuckers? What about the parallel axis, hot stack, or quarter pounders?

I'm kind of lost, because I have a lot of experience with different humbuckers, but almost none with single-coils.

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

+1 on the Chopper with Dimarzio neck and bridge. Side by side, the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails sounds better though. Not sure how it would mix with the Dimarzios however.

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

The Chopper gets pretty convincing single coil sounds, especially when split, and it's hot enough to hang with your other pups no problem. With those three unique pups you'll have a wide array of cool tones. :D

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

I would want to know which exact model of Ibanez RG you are modifying - especially what its body and fingerboard woods are.

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

It's a basswood body and maple/rosewood neck, with a floyd rose trem.

Also, the full shred bridge IS a SD, so everyone suggesting DMZ single coil, don't be afraid to suggest a SD single! I typically prefer the sound of SD pickups, I just happened to have the breed neck lying around, and it seems to match the full shred pretty well.

Also, I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull off split coil wiring with this guitar, so preference to a single coil that sounds like a hot liquidy single as-is.

Thanks for the input guys, keep it coming!

Re: Ibanez RG pickup suggestions?

well the reason I suggested the Chopper is that it would probably be the HOTTEST
single coil size pick up
may not be the tone you want ,
but it would definitely be the out put you want
