Ibanez RG450M - want EMGs... pre loaded pick guard???

Hey everyone... I have an newer Ibanez RG450m that I'm using as an experimental mule. Right now I have a JB in the bridge position. I'd really like to try EMGs in it, but I'd rather buy a new pick guard and set it up from scratch as an EMG rig. MAybe buy another pick guard and drop an SH-6 combination in there, just have several bolt on options rather than having to bust out the soldering iron every time I have an idea for a change.

Problem is, I cannot find a place that sells pick guards for newer (non Japan made) RGs and then, what do I do with the middle single coil position in the stock HSH setup?

Someone must have dealt with this before. Is there a good cost effective solution out there?

Many thanks

Dimarzio D-Activators are EMG-ish, and you wouldn't have to fool with battery install.

You can try Ibanez's website for the pickguard part number in the parts section, and then ask Rich over at IbanezRules.com if he has one available. He normally has a TON of Ibanez parts on hand, so you should make out good there. If your looking to remove the middle single coil on the EMG set up, you can always make a tracing of your current pickguard without the middle single coil, and send it to WD Music and have them cut you a new pickguard for it.

As for setting one up with the EMG's, good idea. You have a ton of options there as well for what types of tones your after with it as well. With the new solderless system, you can put it together using all plug and play parts EMG has, including the selector switch. The ONLY thing you may encounter would be the switch fitting in ther with all the wiring attached, as well as a spot for the battery. With this in mind, you may want to consider a new pickguard without the middle SC, and getting another 3-way switch similar to the style of the one you have currently to save some room in there... otherwise, you can always see what sections of wood under the pickguard you can route/remove out of there to give you a little more room fo fit everything...

Ankther idea/suggestion that I am using on my EMG equipped guitars - including a '67 Flying V 7-string (which momey requires pulling the pickguard off to change the battery all the time...) - is to get the EMG 9 or 18V external power supply. This is a crucial piece to have and use just for this reason, and it makes battery changes and worrying about room to put it in the guitar out of the equation. You just need a stereo/TRS cable to run from the Guitar to the power supply, and then your normal cable out from the power supply to your pedals or the amp...

Just a few ideas and thoughts about the swap I have encountered before... best of luck, amd let us know how you make out!
