Someone on Facebook posted hes selling this set for $50. He said they're a set of Super 70s pulled from a 1975 lawsuit. I can't seem to find pictures of a set of these pickups with these types of poles, can anyone confirm?

Super 70 baseplates only, you can tell how mutilated the sides are from the covers being taken off etc. – someone really did a number on them!

The Super 70 is a covered A8 pup, with a row of slugs and screws, like a typical bucker. The also had vintage style braided wire; the ones in your pic seem to have a 4 conductor wire. At some point the baseplate design was changed so the left leg got spots for three height adjustment screws – in 1978, I think. Ibanez pups also had Philips head screws holding the bobbins; only company I can think of that used slot at the time is DiMarzio. Bobbins look like DiM too.

Verdict: DiM Super D (converted to 4 conductor wiring) on pre-1978 Super 70 baseplates.

Maybe a bit less, given the condition, retrofit of 4 conductor wire, and the general Frankenstein approach.

I wouldn't,personally.

Aside from the, ummm,"surgery",old DiM SDs(in my exp) woefully need re-potting.
Sometimes it takes,sometimes it doesn't...

^^ Oh yeah, forgot about that - the old ones aren't potted, and given that these ones have been operated on, they'd probably need it.
