Ibanez Tight End R bridge = Trembucker/F-spaced bridge pickup???

Hello all.

I recently scored a rather surprising Ibanez RG921 Premium in trade for my ESP LTD EC-407. At first, I wasn't going to keep the guitar. But after playing it a little more, I am starting to really like the thing. But the pickups the thing came with - the DiMarzio CrunchLab & LiquiFire set - leaves something to be desired IMHO. I am looking at new pickups for it, but I am curious about the bridge the guitar has, and which pickup spacing I would need for it...

So can anybody tell me whether or not I would need an F-spaced humbucker or Trembucker for use with the Ibanez Tight End R bridge???

Thanks in advanced!

Definitely F-Spaced in the bridge, possibly in the neck as well.

^ What he said.

If it were me I'd measure the strings from E to E on neck pu and bridge pu height just to be sure (mostly for the neck, the bridge is a TB with a 99% certainty)

That's a very good looking guitar! I have a RG321MH in weathered black or WK, and was actually thinking about installing a Tight-End R bridge and white pickguard. Did it originally come with a pickguard? I can't seem to find any more pictures of one with a pickguard online.

What do you think about the bridge? Does it feel as solid and heavy as it looks? I can get a new one for about $50 on eBay. I was going to install Dimarzios as well, actually thinking about those with rails, so this IS like a future version of mine.

Thanks for the post and congrats on the guitar!
Cheers,
Walter

F-spaced for the neck and bridge if you're going DiMarzio. Trembucker-spaced in the bridge and regular-spaced in the neck if you're going Duncan. That's what I have in my Ibanezes.

This. I have a RG870RW, and suggest a PATB set. My RG sounds awesome or distortion and clean, the DiMarzios are definitely not my sound.
