Ibby single DCR question?

I have an Ibby QMS1 middle single RP pickup with three leads.

white / red / ground (bare)

W-R dcr, 9.xx K Ohms
W-gr dcr, 2.xx M Ohms
R-gr dcr, 2.xx M Ohms

So there is around 2 Mega Ohm resistance between bare ground and each of the leads. Is this just minor leak through wire sheath? Or is indication of some unintentional grounding?

Why does a single coil pickup have a third bare ground wire? I don't think it is a coil tap or that this is a stacked single.

I think what you have is the white and red conductors are your actual pickup wires, that would go to the switch/output and the other to ground. The bare wire is a shield, which would also go to ground. Without knowing how you're measuring it, I don't have a good explanation for the 2meg ohm readings.
