IcedEarth

Re: IcedEarth

I'll let him answer, but I have to be honest... I'm going to get another XXX when I get a spare 650. That amp is just too killer. Versatile as all hell for metal, with a killer thrash and lead tone, as well as a nice chunk.

Re: IcedEarth

are you saying the XXX is better than the JSX?

Re: IcedEarth

I have a XXX as well. As to if it is better than the JSX or not, depends what you want to do. I'm sorry because you've probably been told that before. Lower gain and clean will probably be better on the JSX but it also can do high gain very well. If you know the band Into Eternity, they are using the JSX live now and it does sound very good. They are a power/death metal hybrid. On the other hand I love my XXX. For straight out metal only it is a great value. So I think you will be happy with either one. If you want to do lower gain stuff as well, I say go JSX because it would probably be better at that. I hope this helped some :headbang: . Anyone correct me if i'm wrong with any of this info.

Hey DeadSkin, What settings did you use with your XXX if you remember. Also I remember you used EL34 in it as well. How did you like them compared to 6L6?

Not at all... Just different. The XXX is geared more towards high gain metal, while the JSX is more of a... well, a Satch amp.:laugh2:

It was something like medium or loose on the damping, treble at 3-4, mids at 4-5, bass at 4-5, gain at 3 with an OD pedal engaged. Without the OD pedal, it was 4 or 4.5. This is all on the Crunch channel.

The 6L6's were boomier and grainier. I preferred the EL34's because they were tighter, smoother, clearer, and gave a nice voicing to the mids.

But i thought you said it could oull off anything the XXX could do but only do it better

Re: IcedEarth

I don't remember saying that...

It can do cleans and mid-gain tones better than the XXX, probably, and has some added features (noisegate, resonance/presence controls), but the XXX will do extreme metal better.
