Yeah! I saw this in a local shop. Impressive indeed. Besides was standing a SL3 with natural finish. Also very cool.:crying:

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

Dinky's are pretty sweet guitars. Never really cared for the neck, but i guess i'm just to used to the strat style neck. The pickups in them are pretty sweet for distortion :)

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

Dinkys are amazing in design, it's the gigantic square heel and the cheap Korean construction (in contrast to its' price) that put me off. Otherwise I would have bought one a long time ago...

Soloists are considerably better but I really don't think they're worth THAT kind of cash either...

I love my Soloist.. but yes, don't think it's worth the prices they're going for now

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

that looks like the finnish they guy in Poison used in a few videos

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

Dinky's are my fave, but not with an S-S-H configuration (or Hot Rod flames for that matter). Though I've been tempted a few times.

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

I thought they had two Dinkys, but I checked again, and it was some other kind of bolt-on Jackson. Dinky-style.

I obviously know nothing about Jacksons!

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

I always wanted a soloist. They are amazing! And back then, at about $1200, they were expensive, but worth it.. My dream one was green stained flame top with chrome hardware and pup rings. But now, they run over $2200 and they dont have that custom shop perfect feel any more. (at least to me)
Sad..

The only Jackson right now that still excites me is the DK2m. I love the maple neck with black shark inlays, and the Duncan JB/jazz set..

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

i love most Jacksons.... i too always wanted a Soloist.... i have a few imported mid 90's dinky's and i love them.... i wish i had the real USA ones sometimes but Jacksons i love...

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

IMO...

Jacksons are overpriced for what they are as a general rule. Dinkys look pretty cool but they feel flimsy/insignificant to me and I'm fairly confident I break one apart with my bare hands while playing it if I wanted to.

same could be said about SG's...

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

I used to be quite taken with their high end stuff, but I've come to agree with you.

I still think they're awesome guitars, but 2K+ for a mass-produced super strat (or Warrior, or whatever - the shape doesn't matter) is over the top, especially considering many of their most expensive models have opaque finishes.

I'm not counting the custom stuff or the ones with hand-painted artwork though - I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into those.

It's just a flat-top maple neck-thru with alder wings made of common wood is something I would expect to be competitively (not prohibitively) priced.

IMO

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

They're made in Japan and the latest Dinkies and Japanese Jacksons I played were nothing short of flawless. Better in timber than LTDs or Schecters too. Good value for money.

The USA stuff isn't mass produced. It's made along the Custom shop orders, by the same people. It's like getting a CS guitar but with fixed specs.

Re: I'd buy this guitar if it wasn't so dinky

I've had a hard time with thinkin' they (USA's) were overpriced because their craftsmanship was just staggering. Both USA's I've owned were un*bleepin'*real. If my DKMG didn't have a finish I find so irresistable, I'd go USA again as soon as I could.
