Ideal apartment practice amp/effects setup

Re: Ideal apartment practice amp/effects setup

So far I'm really digging the JamVOX, and believe it or not, the Crate Powerblock into a 1x12" cab. Although something in the back of my mind says check out the Blackstar HT-5 and the Blackheart Killer Ant 5W combo.... Are they at GC?

Re: Ideal apartment practice amp/effects setup

I agree with what some have been saying. 5 watts can be a lot for an apartment. I have a 5 watt amp and my neighbors complain sometimes (and i play during the day and don't pass the volume from 4). I ordered an attenuator to see if that works.

cheers,
Jon

If you have a good laptop, just use the POD in combination with a good cabinet simulator, or get an USB audio interface. Plug in a pair of good speakers or get good wireless headphones. It's the most flexible set-up and you can even do some recording if you like.
Most audio interfaces come with some sort of recording software.

At least try out the HT-5. I think it sounds very good at a bunch of different volume levels. If you don't like it, you're out an hour at the store. It will get loud, but it doesn't HAVE to be loud.

+1 Both combo and head version are very easy to come by in local music stores and GCs these days. They sound very good.
