Ideas for a new neck pickup? HELP!!

So I posted for the first time a few days ago trying to figure out a good bridge pickup for a guitar I'll be getting soon, thinking I knew which neck pickup I'd be getting, but I'm not so sure anymore. The guitar is a Schecter Tempest Custom - mahogany w/ maple body, rosewood fingerboard. I like heavier music, EX: Between the Buried and Me, Lamb of God, etc. I want something that will contribute to the crushing tone, good mids/solo tone, able to get clean but not necessarily sparkling. I was looking at a 59 and a jazz, but now I'm starting to look more at the full shred. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot everyone!

Definitely go heavier than a jazz or 59 if you want a crushing sound. I'd be looking at a modded invader (hex pole pieces), a duncan distortion, or a custom if you want lower output. Never used a full shred before but i'm gonna try one sometime. I've heard its great for metal.

Ya I was thinking about it and I'm definitely gonna go heavier than a 59 and jazz. the invader suggestion is interesting; I'll look into that.

As for the Custom/Pearly Gates combo; would that be heavy enough? From what I've read/heard it sounds like a good combo but maybe not for extremely heavy music. I'll definitely check it out though.

By the way, the bridge pickup I decided on was a Duncan Distortion...I probably should have mentioned that earlier...:smack: but any other suggestions definitely welcome, as I still don't know tons about different pickups.

Perhaps the distortion set is what you want. I think it cleans up ok. I kinda like the clean sound. I use it. nice and bright. Can't say about the neck, but I'd think it would be similar.

I was considering the distortion set because I'm pretty positive I want the distortion bridge and I'm sure the set would be perfect for anything heavy. I'm really intrigued by the Full Shred neck still. Does anyone have any experience with this pickup?

If it's a 24-fret guitar, go with a Pearly Gates bridge. From your description a PG bridge might even work on a 22-fret guitar.

The guitar is 22 frets. So that's a couple for Pearly Gates now...is it really a good pickup for the really heavy stuff? for some reason I guess I was under the impression that it wasn't for heavier tones...I gotta check into it. Great suggestions everyone thanks a lot. I'm still new here so I'm really happy to see how helpful everyone can be.

Still no word on the Full Shred?
