ideas, possibly?

i was wondering if some of you wiring wizards would mind having a look at this...i want to add a mini-toggle to split the humbucker...not 100% sure how? I am thinking it will need a spdt on/on switch, but not 100% sure on the wiring. this is what i am trying to achieve...with the split, of course

thanks in advance!!

you want to split the bucker only with the switch or you want to autosplit like it shows in the diagram above?

i want to split the bucker as to make the 5way like a strat, with three single coils, with the toggle in one position...or, use an hss in the shown configuration, with the toggle in the second position

If you remove the red and white cables that go from the humbuker to the switch and shunt them to ground using one side of a mini toggle I believe you will have what you're after.

In positions 1 and 2 you will have the option of full humbucker or split.

so you want auto split in middle/bridge position, as well as the ability to split with the switch?

Just add a wire going from where the red + white is attached to the blade switch and run it to the "pole" of the mini toggle (the middle lug if it's a SPDT). Then run a wire from one of the "throws" (the outside lugs) to ground.

You can also use a SPST on-off mini to do the same thing.

And you can do this with a push/pull (or a push/push) on your volume or tone pot so you don't have to drill any holes to add a mini switch. You just use either the right or left half of the switch lugs, but wire it the same as a SPDT.

thank you! i am re-wiring an ibanez that already has a hole for a toggle, so your first suggestion is perfect! cheers!

ideally, this is what i want to do:

I just noticed that in your post #6, it's the screw coil you want active. If that's the case, you'd want to do a slight change from what Doc said.

Remove the ground connection from the upper-right lug of the 5-way. Then run a jumper from that lug to the lower-left "bridge" lug. (Cyan line.)

Then run two wires, (green lines), from the upper-left "common" lug, and the lower-left "bridge" lug to the two terminals of any switch you use. A simple SPST will do it.
