Identifying SD Alnico II Pro humbuckers from around 1985?

Hi,

Does anyone know how you might identify SD Alnico II Pro humbuckers manufactured in 1985, or at least in the 1984 through 1986 range? Is there a serial number or any other recognizable coding on the back, etc., so that you could definitively identify one of them manufactured in 1985? Or, at the very least, does anyone know what the packaging would have looked like, in case I run across a used set at a guitar show or something like that?

I'm sure pretty much everyone knows these are the pickups in Slash's number one recording guitar - his Les Paul replica... But I've heard from several others who swear by the ones that were made in the mid-1980s. I'd really like to locate a set and try them out myself. Thanks!

Not sure you can pinpoint the actual year. According to the support link curly provided is pre or post 2002 so thats pretty vague. To get a little more detailed might be if the pickup has long legs as I don't think they started short legs until the 90's or the late 80's at the earliest. I forget if Alnico Pro II's come stock even on new models with long legs so my advice might not help much. I'd say if it was non-logoed but normally they come even now with no logos so no help there. Surely there might be someone with more knowledge of those actual years 1984-1986 of the Alnico Pro II to help more than i can. Good luck.
