Hughes & Kettner Triamp MKII Alex Lifeson signature or Bogner Shiva 20th Ann. w/reverb

Both brand new, priced the same, which would you choose and why?

20th anniversary Shiva. Why? Because I've owned the Mk 1 Triamp, Duotone, the early Shivas and played the Mk 2 before. I've never had a Hughes & Kettner worth holding onto. They're not as reliable as Bogners, the customer service is a joke and I'd rather have one or two really good tones than six good tones (the more circuitry, the less punch and dynamics you're going to get). I will say this, for sheer versatility, the Triamp Mk 2 is really quite an amp. The Mk 2 really did improve all the way around vastly over the Mk 1. The Bogner just has a better master volume, it was lighter, far easier to maintain and the sound really encompasses the best of Fender and Marshall in one package.

I have played through many Hughes & Kettners over the years, I have never found one that could sing like Boogies and Bogners.

my thoughts exactly. the H&K will have the options and feautures and channels, but the bogner is a bogner. not that the H&K will sound bad, but against a bogner, i think the bogner has the edge

i have not had a chance to try that h&k or that model of the shiva. but i have owned a duotone and a regular el34 shiva. i know alot of people will disagree but people like what they like and i preffered the the h&k. i went through a stretch of owning a bunch of high end amps. uberschall rev blue, splawn quickrod, shiva, a couple dr.z's among orange and some marshalls. and to me the h&k did the sounds i was wanting better than all the others.
the cleans were just as good as the dr.z's the crunch was as good as the shiva and although not as high gain as the uberschall it covered metal pretty well. in the end it all boils down to what you prefer though.

Shiva. I've never tried an H&K I've liked enough to spend money on. They've got some neat features on them but the Shiva has a very pure, beautiful tone that's hard to beat.

I have a Shiva. It's an older model then the 20th ann. model, but it is a killer amps. I think it also depends on what kind of stuff you play. I am more of a blues/blues-rock type of player, so this amp works well for me, but if you are a hardcore metal player you would have to goose it pretty hard with some pedals.
