If you have to choose EVH Wolfgang or Music Man Axis Sport

Similar guitars, both good quality. I've owned a Music Man Axis Sport and LOVED it, the #1 guitar I regret getting rid of, out of 100+ guitars I've owned.

So what would you choose?

I'd take the Wolfgang. If it was between the EBMM Axis and Peavey Wolfgang, I'd take the EBMM Axis.

Is there really that much difference between the peavey and the EVH wolfgangs? They look the same

Only going on looks and what specs I can find I would choose the EVH. Ed's company makes really nice stuff, not that EBMM doesn't.

Night and day, IMO. The EVH brand has just a little bit more to it. The feeling is smoother and more refined. The pickups are better too.

None of the links work for me. In terms of production guitar I have NEVER found any brand which delivers instruments like EBMM does. Never played any of the EVHs (Fender) though (not sure they're common at all in Europe) but I've had 5 Musicman (still have 4) and nothing compares at all. 3 of them were Axii (two Super Sport I still have, and one Sport).

I'm not usually a fan of EVH
But that black paint job makes me reconsider my life choices thus far

The EVH Wolfgang is a better made guitar- essentially Fender Custom shop. However, I still find it and the Peavey to be ugly guitars- but to each their own.

The Peavey is the worst of the 3. The EVH is great if you can afford it, if not look at the Special line- which is very close to the EBMM, though the EBMM is more ready to go out the box.

I prefer the flatter 12"-16" radius of the EVH than the 10" of the axis.

I do too. I was disappointed when I told my tech I wanted the Refret to be a compound radius and he repeated the standard 10 inch- but the fret job with the PLEK came out so well you wouldnt know.

I prefer the neck on my EVH striped out of all my guitars though

Also, I should add this...

I haven't played a USA EVH Wolfgang- not many stores stock a $3,000 guitar.

I've played the first generation Wolfgang Specials that were made in Japan. Most needed setups out of the box, mainly to lower action. I also didn't like how high the strings were off the body

Every EBMM Ive played has been the quality of a PRS, in that they are ready to go, play and gig right out of the box.

I have played the EVH Wolfgangs, the US versions, and they all kick ass. I'd love to own a floyd version and a stoptail version. They are simply... awesome. IMHO better than Musicman. The pickups are better, the necks feel better, the tone is better etc etc.

EBMM. I like the shape & feel of the neck better. I also prefer the body shape.

The Gotoh Floyd on the EBMM has a much more solid feel though. As far as the pickups go, the EBMM are a little lower output and clearer, which is a better match for the F.@.C.K. era tone if you're using a harmonizer or chorus as Eddie was using at the time. The EVH pickups just have a little more balls

the gotoh floyd is a great one, yes. BUT... I prefer the tones and feels of the EVH. And no, I'm not a fanboy. Not at all. I don't even like Van Halen.
