if you live in Socal and want a Les Paul

Re: if you live in Socal and want a Les Paul

is that what '96 lps go for?

Similar to mine. Mine is a sunburst plaintop from around the same year. A very special guitar to me, heavy as hell, though

HAve Seymour run down and get that for me. Tell him I'll pay him back and pick it up at the next SDUG day.

Something is wrong with that price. You can't fill your car up with gas in SB for $1800.

Re: if you live in Socal and want a Les Paul

That was about a $1,200–$1,400 guitar when new, IIRC. Prices went up a lot between that point and when I bought my 2004 Standard for $1,980 (in 2004) – though they also went to a moderately figured flame top on Standards at some point in there.

It was generally a good period for Gibson IME. I can see it retaining full original value, with the only devaluing coming from inflation, even with a little wear and tear. But I can't see a 20 year old run-of-the-mill Gibson stuff going for 50 percent more than new. It isn't like they were supremely superior guitars back then or anything.

To me, that's a steal at $1,200 and a fair price at $1,400.

interwebs people have launched a thousand ships based on the rumor that 90's gibsons were somehow great

it's all relative but yea, nice axe regardless

Not a good deal at all for SoCal.

Not this close to the west coast's #1 broken dreams destination city, where people are always lining up to pawn stuff

Isn't there some significance to the shaded area on the back of the neck? I seem to remember that denoted a less expensive model for a couple of years.
