if you were given $10,000 for 1 guitar and amp?

ok, just a fun little question for all of you. im sure it's been done before, but who cares

say you were given $10,000 and you were only allowed to spend it on 1 guitar and 1 amp(and cabs), what yould you spend it on? list specs and all.

me, personally?

i'd have a custom jackson with H-S-H pickup configuration, neck through , birdseye maple neck neck and fretboard, with abalone dot inlays, recessed floyd rose tremolo, Koa body, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA quilted maple top, natural paint job, gold hardware, Duncan Custom bridge, texas hot single coil, over wound 59 with ceramic magnet, 1 volume, 1 tone, coil tap switch fopr bridge and neck humbuckers, 24 jumbo frets, 5-way switch, schaller stap locks.

now to my amp:

Bogner ecstacy head with 3 cabs. best sounding amp ever made. only $3300 too :smack:

Don Grosh Bent Top Custom guitar - w/ my own custom options
*AAAAA Flame "faded denim" maple top (look at the Dean Hardtails), koa back.
*Hollow routed. H-S-S. I'd have two Lindy Fralin Blues Special single coils and a Tom Holmes humbucker in the bridge.
*It'd have one volume, one tone (w/ coil tap for the humbucker) and one blend knob. I'd also have a mini switch to switch to a piezo pup for acoustic tones. It'd have the Grosh modified trem on it.
*Neck: birdseye maple w/ brazilian rosewood. Bird inlays of abalone, mother of pearl and paua shell (hey, that's one thing I love about about PRS). It would have of course the vintage feel that Grosh is known for and the chunky C profile.

Amp:
Bogner Ecstasy 100B w/ chinese tubes and the 12ax7M
Zinky 4x12 cabinet

That would be enough to make me one very, very happy person.

It'd be a fight between a Bogner and a Carr for the amp. That leaves about 7 grand for a guitar.

I probably go for the nicest vintage singlecut Les Paul Special in TV yellow I could get. That should eat a chunk out of seven grand. Or perhaps a refinished 50's tele or esquire.

If it was a new guitar, 7 grand could buy me two-three great guitars.

orange ad30h2 (the 2 channel head one) w. 2 4X12 orange cabs, loaded with greenbacks.......tone monster, and plenty of volume, from say, 1968

id track down some non-existant gibson custom job from the late 60;s AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA X 1000000000 maple cap, koa body, brazillain rosewod fretboard and neck (1 piece) orginal pups, coil split wiring, gorgeous blue flame finish, gold hardware.......a 335 style, forget to mention that

Mesa Boogie Road King w/ a Mesa traditional slant cab and flat cab
Gibson Les Paul: -mahogany body w/ set maple neck and ebony fretboard w/
abalone Metallica ninja star inlays
-dark metallic blue base w/ light pearl blue and silver ghost
flames
-Duncan Custom 5 (black/uncovered) in bridge and '59

ummm... how about a custom made Gibson Les Paul... in either heritage cherry, or purple, carved top, solid ivory pickguard, AAAAA flamed. A2P in neck, PG in bridge. obviously, sperzel tuners, upgraded hardware, electronics. fretboard of ebony, with trapezoid diamond inlays, and my name in diamond on 12th fret.

as for the amp... the Silver Jubilee that Slash had would be just fine for me...

Driskill Diablo built with 1.5" thick mahogany back and the standard 1" thick maple cap (either orange or purple stained quilt). Brazillian rosewood neck with ebony fretboard with inlay done in paua and MOP. Driskill tremolo and Rio Grande pups (texas and BBQ).

Amp - Diezel VH4 with two Mesa Recto cabs or a Budda Superdrive 80 with two Mesa Recto cabs (straight front).

Matchless DC-30 head through 2 custom 2x12 birch cabinets with 2 celetion vintage 30's in one and 2 g12h 30's in the other.

(if cables are included in this package im getting loads and loads of monster cables (back-ups for my back-ups ))

Guitar would be a custom gibson double cut les paul with AAA quilted maple top (amber). solid mohagany body, set neck. the neck would be slim taper 60's neck.

with all this i still dont think i would make it to $10,000

An old late 60's/early 70's HIWATT with 2 matching 4x12 cabs (Fanes of course!) and CS Les Paul. :cool2:

Actually that amp alone will set you back about 10G. No problem though, you could always borrow money from the guy with the B.C. Rich. I'm sure he'll have plenty left over.

Yes. In fact, I think a lot of companies put out far superior products than Marshall and Mesa (Mojave, Bogner, Hughes & Kettner (I challenge just about any Mesa or Marshall man to come up with better tone than my Triamp... vintage plexis are the only things that could compete or possibly surpass it - but not as much flexibility), Matchless, Soldano, Demeter, Carr, Badcat, Diezel, Tophat, Bruno, Blockhead, Savage, Custom Audio Electronics, etc etc etc).

I've played some pretty fine amps. There are still some I'd love to try, but if I could buy one amp based on research and reviews, it'd be a Bogner Ecstasy 100B. There aren't many amps that really try to compete with it, the new Diezel Herbert is one of the few (supposedly much better than the VH4).
