Re: Ii-v-i / iii-v-i / iv-v-i

What are you using the Roman numerals to represent?

To me, II-V-I indicates a chord progression. If II is C, I would expect V to be F and I to be Bb. (A#)

Re: Ii-v-i / iii-v-i / iv-v-i

yea chord progressions

sorry to be so vague

I was trying to layout movable patterns

I have aome jazz chord books but those chord forms are so alien

As a youth, my favourite was the Mickey Baker Jazz Tutor book. I would study the lesson chapter, get something horribly wrong but still manage to come up with something that I had not heard before. A few of these were even worth keeping. (Probably still lurking on four track cassette, awaiting transcription.)

The Andy Summers Hot Licks DVD could prove helpful.

If you want to fry your brain with box diagrams, check out the REH/Alfred Artist Series Allan Holdsworth DVD.

Re: Ii-v-i / iii-v-i / iv-v-i

MEL BAY - Rhythm Chord Sytem AWESOME chordage.

And it's iim7 / V7 / IMaj7

Bm7 - at 7th fret = 7x7777
E7 - 5th position = 076750 (opens are optional)
AMaj7 - 5th position = 5x665x or xO665x

Re: Ii-v-i / iii-v-i / iv-v-i

I guess a "bar" chord is a chord that guys in bar bands play.
