I'm a sick individual

I keep seeing a new Brad Paisley TV commerical - it's for Hershey's chocolate or Kraft marshmallows or something. There's a party on the beach. It starts with a burst of feedback, and then Paisley adjusts his amp volume and starts playing a Keeley-compressed country riff. Then, as he plays, the small group of friends morphs into a big crowd, and then his band magically appears, and they throw candy out to the crowd, and everybody make s'mores and it's a huge party and everyone has a great time.

And all I can think is, "Man, he's getting sand all over that Dr. Z!" :omg:

While we're on the subject, recommend me some Paisley albums. I'm not really into country music, but I respect talent and I loves me some Teles. If I pick up one of his CDs, which one first?

Dude, I'm in the same boat as you. I have no idea. I just love whatever I hear by him

You're not sick man...I have the same problem. The first thing I do when I go out to a show is assess the bands' gear and tell my friends what I think about it.

Last show i went to the guitarist for the opening band had an SG-X like mine and the Orange full stack I want...sounded just as good as i thought it would.

Re: I'm a sick individual

Rich, all of them. Seriously. I own all of his records, including the Christmas album. BUT, if you must start with one, either "Time Well Wasted" or "Mud On The Tires" but don't pass on "Who Need's Pictures" and "Part II" either. His latest is "5th Gear" and is really good. Sounds like it picks up where "Time Well Wasted" left off.

I love his tone. Live, it is absolutely amazing. I have NEVER seen a country player do what he does. He's all over the neck where many stay in certain spots. I'd like to see him do a jam with Will Ray and Jerry Donahue. :beerchug:

Re: I'm a sick individual

Brad IS responsible for the addition of 2 amps to the Dr. Z lineup....so him getting sand on his Zs IS a concern....for me. :D

I know of the Prescription ES (Extra Strength), but what's the other one?

Re: I'm a sick individual

Isn't that the song "Alcohol", and its an ad for Heineken?

Or . . . do I have a 1-track mind? :D

The Stangray

It's supposed to be similiar to a non-top boost AC30 EF86 and all.

:32: NIIIIIIICE!!!! Those 2 clips just made me drool. I wonder if that is what Brad is using on the current tour. When I saw him his tone was incredible. I could handle an amp like that. I've been taking a liking to Vox amps lately. Heck, I use the AC30TB model on my AD50 all the time now.

Time well wasted is a great album, I can't wait on his next album.

The man simply has the greatest tele tone I've ever heard.

5th Gear came out last week. It's really good. Go get it. ;)

Re: I'm a sick individual

Rich, my thought patterns are similar to your's ( hope that doesn't scare you!).

Re: I'm a sick individual

Whenever I watch movies or go to see bands play or find anything with guitars in it I always check out what guitars they are, and the rest of the gear being used. It can sometimes create a bias, but I can't help doing it. It's a guitarist thing I guess.

Re: I'm a sick individual

Sand and Dr. Z Amps don't mix. Cool commercial, but yeah, I think I twitched when I saw that sand fly up in the amp.
