I'm getting a high pitch squeal from my SD TwinTube Classic..

It's more noticable on the lead channel, but if I crank the volume on the rhythm channel it's there too. It didn't do this when I bought it. It started doing it around the time I got my G2, but I took it completely out of the loop and it's still there.

It has two tubes in it, so I was wondering if they got knocked around one day on the way to a gig or something, but the pedal works and sounds fine.

Sounds like a microphonic tube. I was afraid these types of problems might spring up from having a tube pedal, rather than SS. All you need to do is Email SD's customer service, and I'm sure they'll take care of you. At this stage of the game, they surely don't want people complaining about a new release, so I'm sure they'll hook you up with a couple tubes. They ship fast too.

When they released the pedal, they said they bought thousands of those little tubes, to support the pedal over time. Just shoot'em an Email or call them.

That's what I was afraid of.. I just sent them an email. I've only had the pedal since June, but the tube warranty is only 90 days. Do you think SD will charge much to fix this? Am I going to have to pay for shipping as well?

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried your TTC with another amp? If your Cranking the volume on the TTC? You are hitting the Front end ( pre-amp) of your amp pretty HARD !
It's could be a bad tube in your amp? I'm very careful with the volume knob on my TTC. I set the rhythm channel to the same volume as my amp,And the lead channel just for a slight boost. The 6021 in the TTC is a Very Robust Military spec tube. If in fact it has gone microphonic? It will have to be replaced by a tech as for it is hard wired into the circuit.

Re: I'm getting a high pitch squeal from my SD TwinTube Classic..

I don't crank the volumes at all on the TTC. It's just harder to hear the squeal on the rhythm channel unless you crank it up. I keep both volumes at around 4 at the most.

I've used it with two different amps at the same time, but I can't recall if it squealed with just the added amp.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about the trouble with your pedal. Rest assured, we will take care of you. It sounds like you have a microphonic tube in there. I received your email, and will respond to you directly with instructions on sending it in for repair.

Re: I'm getting a high pitch squeal from my SD TwinTube Classic..

Hey Scott, why don't you just send him a new one. Then, when his is repaired, send it to me for a trial period to make sure the repairs took. Say, a couple of years? I'd be willing to donate my time to the project.

:D
