I'm seriously considering one of these..

The fact that I dont want to put what it is in the title tells you why I'm a bit wary. I'm all for new tech - I bought the first POD when it came out, but if I play that now it seems so dated. But this threw me a GAS curveball.

I think its smart use of technology married with a traditional valve design....the amp on its own sounds good, and I like the way its controllable via the HD500. I'm not keen on the Variax tones at the end, but I've never liked Variax tones anyway. But a DT25 plus a HD500 would be a pretty versatile Rig for what I do (jamming+hobby playing)

However for a HD500 plus this amp we're into real grown up valve amp money...and I doubt it'll hold the same value..thoughts/opinions?

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

That stuff from about 17 to 21 minutes sounds great.

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

This is why this thing is giving me GAS

1. If I want to line up all my analog old school stuff I can - its a real valve amp

2. Real world : connecting the HD500 gives me AxeFX style flexibilty.

3. In this demo it sounds effing great.

What I worry about

1. It'll sound like ****e
2. Turned up to JAM volume.... see 1
3. Line6. We all realise what that means... you've got to play like hendrix meets holdsworth meets vai to even be allowed to turn it on.

C'mon guys. If you watch the clip you have to admit this f**ker sounds good.

Wow. It's rather clear and not really buzzy. That's cool.

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

The acoustic simulations sound awful, but the rest of the sounds are all pretty impressive

Anderton's is a chain of music stores in the UK. The all black guitar with the Sustainer looks like a custom made one-off. I do not immediately recognise the squiggly logo in the headstock.

Hmm..so they brought out an even lower watt version? The DT50/100 have been out awhile but they seem to be really un-popular. I suspect the price point is killing them.

These amps still rely on a digital preamp section, they are not "all tube". Its another Bogner "mawwiage" design.

I agree that with a HD series floor pedal, and one of these it should be a nice versatile rig, but it seems nobody is buying them and none of the big music brick & mortar marts are stocking them. Even the catalog stores either don't have them or have more customer returns/open box available than brand new.

Ok, I do not have the patience to skip through this video with my slow internet connection. What did they say the price was?

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

I've used Line 6 products for 11 years. I like them.

:nana:

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

I have/had some Line6 stuff and generally I like it, but it loses value very quickly - my issue with this is for the coin it would take to get there you could also just buy a really nice Blackstar/Mesa/Marshall.

I'm leaning toward 'nice idea but I'll let someone else take the depreciation hit'

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

Our last two CDs are done with me through a P.O.D. Nothing wrong with them.

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

I think that's the amp I checked out in combo form at GC in houston, and really dug! Of course, Benji doesn't like it when people comment on amps you don't own, and crguti doesn't take advice from bedroom players, but I digress.

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

One trip to the Amp Show will tell you that there's an amp for every purpose.

Some need a silent recording amp. Some need a low wattage tube amp. Some need a certain tube flavor. And then there's the do it all tube amps, and after that the high powered 120W stacks that only sound good on 6. To judge people's choices is stupid, because your own situation is only a small part of the complete picture.

Luckily, in this day and age....almost all of them sound perfectly good at what they do.

Re: I'm seriously considering one of these..

I have a buddy who gigs with a DT50 pretty regularly. He's pretty happy with it.
