Image transfer onto a pickguard?

Hi, there. I'd really love to make a pickguard for my tele that looks like this. Does anyone know how I'd go about getting it transferred on?

Maybe reverse-print it on clear adhesive plastic or decal sheets, then apply it to the back of a clear plexi pickguard, and protect it with clear spray?

What do I know? Where's Xssive? He's the expert on this stuff.
