Imagine that

I have a question....:biglaugh:

I ordered two pickups from a local, independently owned music store about two weeks ago. Artie posted here on the forum one of the pickups that I had JUST ordered, as for sale. So I called the store the next morning and asked if it would be possible to cancel that one pickup order....no problem they said as they had not made the order yet. I had been in the store late in the afternoon and done the special order stuff....and I called first thing the next morning knowing that they wouldnt have made the order yet.

Anyhow two days later the guy that I had spoken to about canceling the cool rails order calls me up to say that the screamin demon that I wanted was on backorder, for THREE months and that I should probably just go ahead and find it somewhere else as well....

Here is my question, was this guy just being pissy with me for whatever reason or are the george lynch screamin demons really that hard to get?

It sorta pissed me off his whole attitude about it, but before I go back in there I want to know what the hell I am talking about. I have a drum kit and cymbals to pick up next week so I will definitely be going back in....I spent a little over $1400 total on the drums, cymbals and pickups so I really felt that his attitude was uncalled for, but if the demon really is on backorder I probably won't say anything.

What do you guys think?

BTW I got the cool rails from Artie thursday, and my honduran mahogany that I bought from 9finger in rough cut board form got joined and planed and I should have it monday....I have most of the hardware in hand, the baby grand bridge, the pickup rings, the knobs, the neck etc. I still need a screamin demon and a blues trembucker. but my baby is coming along :D

Re: Imagine that

I see alot of Duncan pups out of stock online all the time Steph...especially if it's one of the less popular ones or one in "odd" color...i.e. not zebra or black

hard to say.....I dont know if Duncan sells to distributors..or if they are only direct to dealers....if the former..the distributor could be out?

I doubt he's beiing pissy, but maybe..

Hmmm...reckon I'm not much help here am I ? :D

You mentioned who you bought the wood from but, who did you get to plane it and join it?

WHY IT WAS DAVE!!!!!

and a BEAUTIFUL JOB it was that you did on my wood too

You're not supposed to have any wood. What in the world is Odie doing playing with someone's wood? He apparently has mad skillz handling other folks' wood. He seemed like a normal feller to me, but I guess fourth impressions can be wrong. What with all that cabbage buried in his yard, he's probably lost his mind anyhow...

Nevermind me. Been drinking and brewing beer tonight. Got a boston honey-wheat cooling off so I can pitch the yeast right now.

Re: Imagine that

Bring that brew right on over here darlin and we can discuss my wood....;) Or whatever else comes up.

Back to pickups....the guitar type....

Oh and p.s. I saw a t-shirt the other day that reminded me of you it read: "Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't" :D

Re: Imagine that

You don't wanna drink it yet. No alcohol and no carbonation. Yucky and sweet. Let the little yeast critters do their thang and let it age for a month or two and I'll be happy to bring you some and discuss yer wood. ;)

Re: Imagine that

Steph, I think lhrocker has another Demon for sale. A trem spaced one. PM him for it if you're interested... :)

It might have been kjrocks... I don't remember. :(

I bought one from one of those guys.

damn memory... :p

Re: Imagine that

just forget about ordering the demons on that store.
i know what you mean with the store guy having that atitude towards us customers.
never mind the reasons, just order from guitar heaven they have all duncans in all colours in stock, zebra as well.
standard shipping is fast too.
no back orders there, got my custom and a2pro zebra and reverse really quick in 2 days to NY city.

Re: Imagine that

cool deal guys thanks for the info....I will get right on that...I can't wait to have all my pickups and all of them installed in my new custom made guitar :D

Re: Imagine that

I rarely buy SD pickups from area dealers anymore, it's usually cheaper and quicker to get them from online dealers like Blackrose or Lew. They tend to have what I want in stock or can get what I want very quickly. I have never had an online order take more than a week compared to 6+ weeks from GC or even longer from mom and pop stores.

I think occasionally that Duncans do take up to three months to get (especially a custom order). He may be telling the truth.
