Import 5 way switch wiring.

25's Nemesis
Hello all. I've been messing around with swapping pickups in my Godin SD, and, in an effort to save a few bucks, I'm trying to use the stock 5 way with the new pickups. I'm using a Dimarzio Fast Track 1 in the neck, a stock Godin ceramic single in the mid, and a Dimebucker in the bridge. I'm trying to get the Dimebucker to auto-split when in the #4 position.

The stock 5 way switch on my SD is a cheapie, import style 8-in-a-row 5 way.

Any ideas?

Re: Import 5 way switch wiring.

You could do autosplit with normal 5-way switch, but the wiring would affect all positions in the switch. the positions1-3, 2-4 and 3-5 are in conjuction so to speak, so you can't just change one position.

Re: Import 5 way switch wiring.

If you want to just use split dimebucker in parallel with middle single. That's easily doable

You need to find the middle lug of both sides of the switch, one where the middle single goes. Then use other side of the switch so that it grounds out one coil of the dimebucker. You put the ground in the middle lug and "split wires" of the bridge in #5 position lug.
