Impressive LP control cavity

One of my LP has an impressive looking control cavity.
Each wire has it's own solder lead plus there is an R9 style bridge ground "coat hangered" around the pots.
This Paul has a modern standard chambered body with CS R9 neck, special R9 wiring harness, and CS color.
The pups are BB1 and BB2 but they are also labeled with the initials of the winding engineer...unusual.

Re: Impressive LP control cavity

I was having my SD custom set that MJ made for me several years ago installed recently when we noticed the unique harness and pup markings.

Re: Impressive LP control cavity

Thanks...that is Gibson wiring but I think the tech had already put in one of the Duncans before I took the pic.
I had an R9 2 years ago that had nicer wiring...but this is pretty nice for a non R9. Usually the non R9 have a blob of solder and the wires are all shoved in together.

Re: Impressive LP control cavity

Thx..Andrew. That sounds like a good name for her.
I like how the reflection of my hand got in the first pic.

Re: Impressive LP control cavity

Nice wiring job, but I do question whether that's factory. Those resistors are just way wrong - they look like precision, high(er) power than necessary resistors. Strikes me as something the guitar tech had left over from the last amp he rebiased...?

It's not that they won't work in the circuit, but nobody who knew what they were doing would select components like that for this application.

Re: Impressive LP control cavity

Here's the tech working.
The color is actually orangish more than red.
These caps offer more high end treble and the chambered body gives a certain amount of breathyness.
The R9 neck creates a steady fat note with a slightly chewy response

Re: Impressive LP control cavity

Looks like standard 50s style wiring. That is until it appears there is no pickup soldered to the input of the neck volume pot?
