Impulse Engines

Re: Impulse Engines

thanks man,
I used the most basic amplitube marshall vst preamp i have, for a dramatic difference;
KVR's kefir impulse loader, and impulses created by Guitarhacks to simulate the cabinet.

Just ordered an engl preamp...cant wait to try cab impulses with it

Re: Impulse Engines

Wow, good stuff! I love the way you fade those sounds in and out. The first tone was cool, then the second which faded in was face melting and warm at the same time. Really nice, man.

Re: Impulse Engines

I've been using Red Wire impulses for few weeks and they are absolute stunning. Using them through guitar rig and AMT E1 preamp. Impulses definitely are the win! Nice clip also :)

Re: Impulse Engines

Thank you so much for putting us on to these. Those Red Wire impulse responses are amazing. I just picked up the freebie Marshall 1960 cab with greenbacks, and bought a Weber Blue in a small cab, a pair of Celestion Blues in a tweed Deluxe cab and a pair of Celestions in a Vox AC30 cab. They're stunning! Best of all they drop straight into Space Designer in Logic, so no further software required.

Here's a clip of a blackface Fender amp sim in Logic, into the Weber Blue, mic'd close with a Royer 121 and a Blue Bottle B4 for a room mic. No reverb, no eq, no amp, no mics, no room!

Damn that sounds awesome! Space Designer uses cpu quite much so I prefer to use laconvolver and peavey revalvers IRR. But my Mac has only 4gb ram for now, have to upgrade it to 8gb so I can get all the goods from space designer etc. But these bring any amp sim out there ALIVE. Have to buy the whole Red Wire series... not going to regret it! :14:

Yes, I've downloaded LAConvolver, nice and simple. I've got 8gb of ram in my iMac, but with a few instances of Space Designer it could get CPU hungry for sure. I haven't heard the latest version of Revalver, but I heard the version before Peavey bought it and it was the best I'd heard. Can't imagine it's getting worse with newer releases. But those Red Wire impulses are an absolute winner!

Re: Impulse Engines

I'm not sure if you guys already have these, but here's some freebie amp sims that rival anything I've heard in the high gain department. Something nice to put in front of our impulse response engines. VST and AU.

Re: Impulse Engines

Lepous amp sims are really good. Especially the ENGL sim. Revalver MKIII is definitely better than it's predecessor, try it if you've got the chance :)

I don't think there's an AU version of the ENGL yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Re: Impulse Engines

Yes, very cool indeed. I'm searching through the Red Wire catalogue now to see which cabs to grab next...decisions, decisions...
