In a Strat A2 or A5 ?

I've got a new Cheap Strat on the way and will change out the pups----what say ye? A2 or A5---thanx for you time!-----chees!----JIMO

if you play mostly clean a5 can be better, if you play dirty then i prefer a2

What Strat tones do you like? A5's are real spanky, with crisp treble, solid bass and slightly scooped mids. I think of SRV's tone when I think of A5. A2 is a lot 'softer' in the bass, the mids are stonger and the treble is more buttery. Rather than the quick attack of A5, A2 seems to 'bloom'.

Hmnnn..----What if I was trying to get a Robin Trower type of tone?---would that be more of an Alnico 2 type of sound? (thanks again for your responses!)----you guys are the best!:wizard:-------JIMO

A5 neck and middle (bright and spanky), A2 bridge (mellower - A5 Strat bridge can sound too bright and shrill). IMHO.
